Why Your Skin Stays Dull — And the 2,000-Year-Old Fix

Why Your Skin Stays Dull — And the 2,000-Year-Old Fix

Your Face Is Telling You Something

Hands and feet cold even in summer. A dull complexion that no serum can fix. Sluggish digestion. Energy that never holds.

This isn't a skincare problem. It's a circulation problem.

In TCM, your face mirrors your internal organs. When qi and blood can't rise to the surface because your core is cold and stagnant, your face shows it first.

For 2,000 years, China has had one answer: moxibustion.

What Is Moxibustion?

Moxibustion means warming specific acupoints with aged mugwort (艾草). The infrared heat penetrates 3–5 cm deep — unlike a heating pad that only warms the surface. It moves stagnant qi, warms cold organs, and brings blood back to your face.

Why aged mugwort? Three years of aging transforms harsh fresh herbs into smooth, steady warmth. Less smoke. Gentler. Deeper.

How It Works

Your body remembers warmth. Moxa's infrared heat travels along meridian pathways. Blood vessels dilate. Stagnant qi moves. Your body receives the signal: it's safe to relax, repair, and glow.

Physical: Increases microcirculation, supports lymphatic drainage, encourages collagen production.

TCM: Warms meridians, dispels cold, supports Spleen and Kidney yang — the organs behind your complexion.

Sanfu: Why Now Matters

July 15 – August 23. 40 days when yang energy peaks. Your pores are open. Meridians are dilated. Moxa penetrates 3–5× deeper during Sanfu.

This is your window to expel years of accumulated cold, resolve dampness, and build warmth that carries through autumn and winter.

Sanfu Moxibustion Schedule

Follow this four-phase protocol to get the most from the Three-Volt window. Each phase targets a different therapeutic goal — work through them in sequence for cumulative results.

Phase 1 — Initial Dog Days (July 15–24)

Laying the Foundation: Strengthen Spleen & Stomach

Yang Qi is just rising. Regulate and strengthen digestive function first to maximise your body's absorption of moxa heat energy. Key points: Zhongwan (CV12), Tianshu (ST25), Qihai (CV6), Guanyuan (CV4).

Initial Dog Days — Abdominal acupoints: Zhongwan, Tianshu, Qihai, Guanyuan

Phase 2 — Mid Dog Days (July 25 – August 13)

Expelling Dampness and Cold

The hottest, most critical phase. This is the peak targeting window — be persistent. Key points: Yinlingquan (SP9), Fenglong (ST40), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Fuliu (KI7).

Mid Dog Days — Leg acupoints: Yinlingquan, Fenglong, Sanyinjiao, Fuliu

Phase 3 — Final Volt (August 14–23)

Consolidate the Foundation, Nourish Qi and Blood

Summer heat is receding. Replenish Qi and Blood to prevent autumn dryness from consuming Yin. Key points: Qihai (CV6), Guanyuan (CV4), Xuehai (SP10), Zusanli (ST36), Sanyinjiao (SP6).

Final Volt — Abdominal and leg acupoints: Qihai, Guanyuan, Xuehai, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao

Phase 4 — Post-Season Strengthening (August 24 – September 3)

Prevent Autumn Dryness, Moisten Lung Yin

Consolidate, nourish Yin, and prepare the Lungs for the season ahead. Key points: Quchi (LI11), Chize (LU5), Kongzui (LU6), Yuji (LU10).

Post-Season Strengthening — Arm acupoints: Quchi, Chize, Kongzui, Yuji

Do not use on: broken skin, varicose veins, pregnancy (lower abdomen), full or empty stomach, intoxication, infants, or areas with impaired heat sensation.

Always: keep water nearby, never leave unattended, use a holder, ventilate the room.
